We have been been focusing on how to write an effective recount to really engage the reader. One of our goals has been to sequence our ideas and begin to link the ideas across paragraphs.
We have written recounts from our own experiences at school and outside in the community.
We have also really enjoyed writing a recount from a fictitious person's point-of-view. For this we used drama characters, current events e.g. migrants crossing into Europe, Nazi train hunters or playing in the Rugby World Cup and short films (chosen by the students during morning prayer) with themes such as bullying and identity.
