In groups, we analysed and researched the five alternative options and wrote a persuasive speech about why our flag should be the 'new' flag.
Heta and Delores did a fantastic job as our MCs.
Vea, Taliyah, Piuela and Sila delivered a great speech for the Black and White Fern flag.
Unique, Julia, McKayla and Alina delivered a great speech for the Koru flag.
Palu, Nadiya and Kennedy delivered a great speech for the Black and Blue fern flag.
Maya, Torah, Tahtiana and Melania delivered a great speech for the Red and Blue Fern flag.
Delores, Selina and Bernadette delivered a great speech for the Red Peak flag.
We then ranked each flag from best to worst using the numbers 1 to 5, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst. We dropped our votes into the voting box, ready for counting.
The results showed a tie between the Red Peak flag and the Red and Blue Fern flag.
We then had to count the number of 2's voted for each of these flags.
The results are shown below...
Red Peak won!
Delores, Selina and Bernadette delivered their speech again for the Red Peak flag.
Following were Heta, Maddie, Maotasa and Nina who delivered a great speech for the current New Zealand Flag.
We then voted again. This time we decided whether the Red Peak flag should become the new flag or we should keep current New Zealand flag.
The results speak for themselves!
